What Is bswdegree.com?

An independent guide to bachelor of social work (BSW) programs accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), and to what comes after them: the bachelor's-level license in your state and the route into a master's. It lists 631 programs at 565 schools, each checked on the school's own website in October 2026, so you can compare format, getting into the major, transfer options, field practicum hours and cost in one place.

What the Site Covers

Every program listing shows what you weigh when you pick a social work major: whether it's online, hybrid or on campus; whether there's a part-time plan; its credits; how you get admitted to the major; transfer and associate-degree pathways; field practicum hours; tuition with its basis and year; and the school's status in CSWE's directory (539 schools are listed as accredited). Where the same school runs an MSW with advanced standing for its own BSW graduates, the listing names it (323 schools do).

State pages add the license question first: 42 of 52 jurisdictions issue a bachelor's-level social work license, and each state page says which one, from that state's social work board.

How Programs Are Verified

The list of schools comes from CSWE's directory and federal IPEDS data on social work bachelor's degrees. A program appears only after its current page was read on the school's own website. Accreditation status comes from CSWE's directory itself, not from school claims, and license rules come from each state's board. The methodology explains each step.

Independence and Advertising

Some pages carry clearly labeled sponsored listings from schools that advertise. Those listings are separate from the program research and never change which programs appear, their order or what is said about them. The advertising disclosure explains how the site is funded.

Corrections

Programs and board rules change. If a listing is out of date, send the page and a link to the school's or board's page, and it will be reviewed.

He isn't a social worker, so every page is built from primary sources instead of opinion: each school's own program pages, CSWE's directory, each state's social work board, ASWB's exam pages, federal IPEDS data and BLS pay data, with the source cited on the page. See how programs are verified.

Every program on this site was checked against the school's own website. Accreditation status comes only from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) directory, license rules from each state's social work board, and tuition and graduate counts from the U.S. Department of Education (NCES/IPEDS).
